This ‘Legalities & Logistics’ workshop will cover:

• Implied contracts. What to do if you’ve no contract and there’s a dispute.
• The role of the licence in showing work with galleries.
• Artists as both consumers and creators of artistic work.
• There will also be a Q&A session towards the end of the workshop.

Brenda Tobin is a specialist intellectual property solicitor dealing exclusively in media, the arts and entertainment since 2000. Her practice is mainly non contentious, involving contract drafting and negotiations for the creative sector. She represents all forms of content producers from animators to musicians, practicing visual artists, photographers and writers, who create content for all forms of media.

Brenda has set up and run a copyright department for a large UK law firm based in London, representing international creative organisations involving  High Court litigation. She was In House Counsel in RTE, Ireland’s National Broadcaster, for 9 years where she focused on television production and RTE’s digital services.

She is also an experienced defamation lawyer and has reviewed content for such investigative programmes as Prime Time Investigates, and more recently for a new international investigative journalism platform.

Brenda does a lot of training with arts organisations including VAI, DCCOI, the National Sculpture Factory and Words Ireland. She also trains lawyers in BPP college in London. Sculpture Factory and Words Ireland. She also trains lawyers in BPP college in London.
