Portraiture Workshop with PJ Lynch at The Schoolhouse for Art

This is the first of 2 workshops that PJ is facilitating here at the Schoolhouse for Art. (The 2nd will focus on Still Life).

As an illustrator, PJ continues to paint and draw regularly from life as a way of keeping his skills honed, however, in recent years he has painted and drawn more and more just for the challenge, and for the sheer love of it. He wishes to share the passion for representational art with the artists who join his course.

Artists will paint in oils and draw in charcoal, and the subjects will be people for this course and objects for his other. Artists will work hard, will learn techniques and theories, and, PJ promises, โ€œ a lot of fun tooโ€.

PJ Lynch is a renowned artist and probably does not require introduction! He was born in Belfast, and became interested in art at an early age.

He has worked as a childrenโ€™s book illustrator for over 30 years, illustrating over twenty books, including modern editions of classic books such as Charles Dickensโ€™s A Christmas Carol and The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen.

He has won many awards for his work as a book illustrator including the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal which he has won on two occasions and the Christopher Medal three times.
