Deadline for Stage 1 submissions: Friday 5 January 2018.

The HSE and the management of the Sacred Heart Hospital Castlebar Co Mayo wish to invite proposals for site specific art work, these pieces of art will be positioned in the newly constructed 74 bedded hospital which is currently under construction with a view for completion by the end of 2017. The funding for this project has been kindly funded by the Per cent for Art Scheme.

Value €55,000 split into 3 projects
The budget covers design, materials and fabrication costs, and installation costs and all other associated costs including V.A.T

No specific theme, or outcome, is prescribed for this commission, however the preferences are that it impacts positively on the quality of the residents lives incorporating the spirit and ethos of today’s care delivery with an acknowledgement of the hospitals rich and varied history. All art forms will be considered.

The art work is required by Autumn 2018.

This is a two stage open competition. Artists will be selected on the basis of their submission.

Stage 1 submissions must contain:
1. CV and relevant examples of previous work
2. Costings of the project
3. Concept of the art work
4. Supply minimum of 2 A4 drawings or alternative expression to communicate
the concept of the art work

Stage 2 shortlisted artists will be invited to develop proposals in more detail and an honorarium of €500 will be paid to each shortlisted artist.

Selection panel
The panel will consist of the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Estates Project Manager, a Resident and two external artists with public art commissioning experience.

Site visits will be facilitated on Wednesday 6th December 2017 at 10am. by appointment only.
