Funded Residency | AUX-AiR Sonic Art Programme 2018, Middlesbrough, UK
The Auxilairy are now accepting submissions for their artist-in-residence programme, AUX-AiR 2018. They are looking for four emerging and early career international artists working in the fields of sonic art, performance and installation to undertake a funded 6 week residency at their project space in Teesside, northeast England. Chosen artists will receive a stipend, production budget and travel allowance. During their residency, artists will present an exhibition/performance and a talk/workshop at The Auxiliary’s gallery space, network with local artists and organizations and benefit from critical feedback sessions with invited artistic mentors.
Successful applicants will also benefit from networking opportunities with our partners Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, Navigator North, Platform A and Middlesbrough Council.
Successful applicants will receive:

– a 6 week residency (incl. studio and accommodation at the auxiliary)
-£1360 stipend
-travel allowance of up to £150
-production budget of up to £350
-exhibition or performance and a talk or workshop
-one on one critical feedback session with a leading artist/academic
-networking opportunities and advice on community engagement with our partners and local organizations
-technical support with any install and de-install.
-full access to av equipment at the auxiliary
Eligibility
Artists must be emerging, early career international artists. The AUXiliary term ‘international’ artists as:
1. artists living outside the uk
2. artist living in the uk that have exhibited abroad.
artists must use the medium of sound in their work.
we deem an ‘exhibition’ as any artistic public facing event.
