There is increased recognition nationally and internationally of the significant contribution that locally based enterprises, socially focused projects and culture and heritage make in engaging and empowering communities. Craft is central to this and plays a pivotal role across the country in generating employment, enriching local communities, preserving skills and enhancing the sustainability of rural towns and villages. To celebrate and raise awareness of the value of craft, this seminar will provide a platform for practitioners based in Ireland and abroad to share their experiences in the development of projects and businesses that make a tangible contribution to their local environs and communities in today’s fast-paced, consumption-driven society.
