Commission | Two Wall Mounted Artworks for The Innovation Factory, Belfast

The Project
To create two large artworks at the Innovation Factory in Belfast that reflect the rich and evocative entrepreneurial history of West Belfast and forward thinking future of the Innovation Factory and its customers, through an open competition which will be judged by a panel of key local stakeholders.

The Innovation Factory would like to commission two artworks that can either be mounted or applied to two walls at the Innovation Factory. They are seeking artists who would like to provide 1 or both of the artworks. This could be an individual or collaboration of artists. The most important element is that the artworks reflect innovation and enterprise within West Belfast, are engaging and eye catching – in keeping with the overall branding and fit out of the Innovation Factory.

The Innovation Factory is the newest business community in Belfast – and attracts national and international customers. Based on the previous site of Mackie International, this renovated factory space has now returned to its employment roots by offering a future for entrepreneurial spirit. With flexible, leased space and bespoke business advice in the heart of a well-connected, booming city.

The Budget
The total budget for both artworks is £5,000 inclusive of design, materials and time.

Judging Criteria
In terms of scoring, below is how proposals will be evaluated:
• 40% artistic treatment
• 40% reflection of West Belfast heritage/future facing nature of Innovation Factory
• 20% cost
