Peter Burns is a Dublin born artist now living in Mayo Abbey and currently showing in a solo show, WAYFARER in Claremorris Gallery. Peter will be talking about his work in conversation with Rosemarie Noone of Claremorris Gallery. Refreshments will be served, admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
Peter has shown at Claremorris Gallery since he was a student. Over the past ten years he has established himself as one of the most important painters of his generation of artists in Ireland, having broken into the international art scene, now showing extensively in London, New York and Miami and also participating in a number of exhibitions in New York and London galleries.
Burns’ sculpture and paintings have a medieval quality of myth telling, they’re charmingly painted with a long low note of apocalyptic despair. Wayfarer is an at times lurid phantasmagoria of the artist’s internal life; an endless source of solace, pleasure, and stimulation.
Burns has been featured in Wall Street International Magazine, The Sunday Times and ArtForum. He is a recent recipient of the Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant. He was awarded a BA in Sculpture and MFA in Painting from The National College of Art & Design, Dublin. He lives and works in Co. Mayo.
For further information please call gallery director, Rosemarie Noone at (087) 7912337 or firstname.lastname@example.org. WAYFARER continues until Dec. 1st
