This 4 hour intensive workshop will cover the most important elements of creating a landscape painting that strays away from strict realism. If you have always been drawn to experimenting with stylised and more abstract style of painting but find it difficult to switch from the realistic or photo-realist likeness to painting in a more expressive and intuitive way this workshop is perfect for you. You will learn the important aspects of a good painting composition and how to build layers of paint in such a way that your painting will have a richness of texture and expressive freshness. The most important point we will be exploring is how to loosen up your landscape painting style using brushes and palette knives and you will be able to apply it later on when working in your studio or painting plain air. The workshop will outline both atmospheric and linear perspective in a very simplified and easy to understand way as well as how to create an illusion of depth of space. You will also cover how to successfully use reference pictures as inspiration for your paintings. The participants will have a few finished paintings to take home and use them as a guide for their future painting projects. Each participant is given a workbook for future reference.
You will be using oils and acrylics in this workshop and it is suitable for the beginner as well as more experienced artists. The atmosphere is very relaxed and enjoyable.
