Vacancy | Irish Museums Association Seeking New Board Member

The deadline for expressions of interest: Sunday 1 July, midnight

The Irish Museums Association (IMA) is seeking nominations to the Associationโ€™s voluntary board of directors.

The board of directors of the IMA is the governing body and is responsible for the development and vision of the Association. As a member of the board of directors of the IMA, you will be supporting the sector by setting the strategic direction of the association; supporting, representing and lobbying for the all-island improvement of museum provision and practice; and advising on matters of concern to the museum community.

The board of directors steer the activities of the IMA. While delegating responsibility to the executive director to direct and manage the day-to-day business of the organisation, board members are required to chair and sit on committees, supporting the work of the Association.

Elected members of the board of directors will serve an initial three-year term, commencing October 2018. Meetings take place approximately every 8 weeks in Dublin or Belfast and board members are required to be present in person.

The Irish Museums Association is a non-profit organisation, registered as a Company limited by guarantee. The members of the board of directors have legal responsibilities and potential liabilities in this capacity.

See the IMA website for further information on this role and the candidate profile: www.irishmuseums.org. Please note this role is not renumerated.

Confidential enquiries can be made to Gina Oโ€™Kelly at director@irishmuseums.org
