‘Practice’ comprises a series of new sculptures made on a daily basis by multidisciplinary artist Sibyl Montague over the course of several months while on residency in Paris and from her Temple Bar Gallery studio in Dublin. Adopting various strategies and techniques – appropriation, assemblage or ‘hacking’ objects – Montague’s work focuses on locating dissident and generative terms from which to approach material and democratise form. Montague’s works on display at The Fashion and Textile Hub on Shipquay Street are handmade without the use of any tools and are born from intuitive improvisation with material.
