Bunscoil Rinn an Chabhlaigh is a mixed primary school located in Rushbrooke, Cobh, Co. Cork. The school has existed in the area since the late 1800s and is now housed in a new, purpose built school building since 2012.
The Per Cent for Art working group, on behalf of the Board of Management is commissioning site specific artworks under the Per Cent for Art Scheme funded by the DES due to the recent completion of our new school building.
The commissioning board is open to physical art forms of any nature provided that it is robust enough to meet the nature of a primary school and with regard to health and safety. The pieces may be exterior, interior or both.
The commission may compromise a single piece from one artist or multiple pieces from a number of artists. The commission / commissions should be thematic. It should be in keeping with the schoolβs location, ethos, aspirations and culture.
The board wants the commission to have an impact on the individual from the moment they enter the main gate, through to the foyer, garden, playground, courtyard, corridors etc. The board wants the commission to be welcoming, engaging and something that enhances the character of the school and school community. The commission / commissions may be tactile and interactive.
The final budget for this project must not exceed β¬36,000. This total is inclusive of VAT and includes contingency fees, all professional fees including that of the artist(s).

The assessment panel will consist of 3 school representatives, an engineer and two external professional artists as independent assessors.
Stage 1:

Stage 2
From the completed stage one applications; a shortlist of artists will be selected by the board. This board, whose decision is final, has the right to clarify any issue which may arise in the course of selection. Stage 2 short listed artists will be paid a concept development fee of β¬400 (including VAT and all other charges) to submit a detailed proposal for final selection.
