Villa Eläintarha will focus on short-term production residencies, with a thematic focus on performing arts and in projects that take place public space. Minimum residency duration is 1 week, maximum 2 months. Professionals from all fields of culture can apply for the residency.
You may submit an application at any time. Applications concerning the following year can be submitted from 1st of April.
Villa Eläintarha is an artist residency in a 19th century wooden villa in centre of Helsinki, next to Töölönlahti bay. City of Helsinki established an artist residency at the villa in the year 2000. HIAP will arrange introduction events at the villa in early 2019 for artists and organisations who are interested in the residency.
Villa Eläintarha is now taking in applications for residencies for the year 2019. From the beginning of year 2019, HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme will be responsible for coordinating the activities of Villa Eläintarha residency.
The minimum period at the villa is seven days and the maximum period is two months.
Room rent 38 € /person/day, for the first 14 days.
Rent for the following days is 16 € /person/day.
The price for an extra bed is 16 €/person/day, and it is only for a short-term visit.
A visitor of a resident (such as the spouse of an artist), who sleeps in an extra bed in the same room, must be approved in advance. Babies who have their own bed and bedlinen can stay at the villa free of charge. An assistant of
a disabled artist can stay in the same room in an extra bed free of charge.
