The Yeats Society are accepting expressions of interest to design, make and install a temporary sculpture/artwork to hang from the exterior of the Yeats Building, Sligo. The work will be inspired by the poem The White Birds, by WB Yeats.
The work will form part of the 60th birthday celebrations of the Yeats International Summer School.
The winning artist will be announced on Poetry Day Ireland 2019 (April). The installation of the work will proceed in early June 2019. It will be taken down at end September 2019.
The sculpture will be temporary in nature and cannot cause damage to the building. It must be suitable for the local summer climate. Please note: The Yeats Building is a protected structure on the National Registry. The Building is at the Hyde Bridge, over the River Garavogue, in the centre of Sligo.
The budget for this project is: €5000.
