Open Call | Skype Studio Visit with Students of Killeens National School, Co. Mayo

Invitation to artists to engage with students via a skype call to their studio. The children of Killeens would really like to deepen their understanding of what a creative practice might look like. Killeens is a small 60 pupil school with a huge emphasis on inclusion and diversity (they have a new extension โ€˜Sunbeamsโ€™ build specifically for our pupils with additional needs).

They understand that each artists practice and work place may also be diverse and unique. They would like to invite creatives of all disciplines (painters, dancers, curators, jugglers, inventors, sculptors, writers, bakers, poets, culinary artists, creative sportspeople / athletes, famous film producers, fashion designers, (mad) hatters) to visit the school virtually via a 40 minute skype call, to give a tour of your studio or work place, to talk to students about how you go about your work, allow them to ask questions and have an all-round inspiring conversation.

Artists will be selected by the children.
There is a fee of โ‚ฌ75 for the artist in each Skype session.

The children may also respond to your work in diverse ways in their own classrooms after the Skype call. They are happy to share those responses with you.

Killeens National School is situated outside Louisburg Co. Mayo on the remote and stunningly beautiful west coast of Ireland. They have been selected as a Creative School as part of the Creative Ireland Initiative. Funded by the Arts Council and the Dept. Education, the scheme allocates each successful school with a โ€˜creative associateโ€™, an arts professional (Killeens NS is artist Lucy Hill) who helps each school design a bespoke child-centred creative plan.
