Open Call | Arts Council Jerome Hynes Fellowship 2018/19

The Arts Council is delighted to announce that it will offer a Jerome Hynes Fellowship for 2018/19. The application window is now open for the Jerome Hynes Fellowship 2018/19, an award that aims to develop outstanding cultural leaders for Ireland.

The fellowship is an initiative of the London-based Clore Leadership Programme, which annually attracts in the region of twenty-five exceptional individuals who have the potential to play a significant role across a wide range of cultural activity. The successful candidate will receive a bursary of the equivalent of Β£15,000 Sterling in addition to a training budget of Β£7,500 Sterling for costs associated with their individual development programme.

Commencing in September 2018, the recipient of the Jerome Hynes Fellowship will undertake most of their programme over a concentrated seven month period between January and July 2019. In addition to shared learning activities, each Fellow undertakes a customised programme of personal and professional development.

The structure of the programme includes:
β€’ two residential leadership courses
β€’ three-month placement to gain practical experience in a cultural organisation
β€’ bespoke learning opportunities
β€’ individually-selected training, mentoring and coaching.

Fellows take a total of approximately eight months away from work to focus on the programme.

Previous recipients of the award are: Kathleen Turner; Course Director, MA Community Music Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, Dylan Haskins, broadcaster and producer; Mags Walsh, Young People, Children and Education Adviser, The Arts Council; Jo Mangan, Director, Performance Corporation; Willie White, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the Dublin Theatre Festival; Sharon Murphy, artist and curator; Fiona Kearney, Director of the Lewis Glucksman Gallery in Cork; and Fearghus Ó’ConchΓΊir, dancer and choreographer.

This Fellowship is open to candidates who live and work in Ireland and who are committed to developing their career as a cultural leader in Ireland.
