Open Call | 126 Artist-Run Gallery Exhibition Programme 2019, Galway

Deadline for submissions: 11 November, 5pm.

126 Artist-Run Gallery is delighted to launch an open call for exhibitions for our 2019 program. 2019 will see the continuation of their current research project “Unset in Stone”, which commenced with “The Materialists” by Sophie Gough and Dara O’Shea. The theme was conceived in light of recent activities surrounding the destruction of National Monuments overseas. These events became ingrained in a collective unconscious, shocking society and provoking much-heated debate.

126 are inviting proposals which confront the idea that an art object can be considered a monument of sorts: a symbol of the time in which it was made: a representation of society or societal concerns, Materialism also comes into play here, as the longevity of an object in both meaning and physicality, can disintegrate change or produce new meaning. 126 encourages you to apply for both solo and/or duo exhibitions and welcome and encourage you to approach this open call in alternative ways. The project will also culminate in a publication in 2019.

Eligibility: Open to all members of 126 Artist-Run Gallery at any stage of their career. There is no application fee. Visit 126gallery.com to join as a member today.

Applications will be assessed in terms of importance to the career of the members, track record, ambition and unique contribution to the research project. Time Frame: The exhibitions will take place throughout 2019. 126 pays artists fees.

Submissions: Send an artist statement, exhibition proposal and a C.V. no longer than 3 pages and images of previous/current work in one PDF to contactg126@gmail.com, subject: Exhibitions 2019
