On Ogham | Damian McManus Lecture at IMMA
Tuesday 21 August, 13.00 to 13.45
No Irish artist has placed Ogham so centrally to their work as OβDoherty / Patrick Ireland, and it is the source behind the artistβs conceptual drawings and structural plays currently on view at IMMA.
Join Damian McManus, Professor of Early Irish in Trinity College, Dublin, for a talk on the rich history, Irish heritage and social functioning of this 1,500 year old language. Learn about the history of the Ogham script from its inception down to the present, its writing systems, its distinctive linear characters, rhythmic motifs, and standing stone inscriptions.
