Life Drawing: Klimt and Schiele Theme with Tadhg McGrath at Block T

Life Drawing – Klimt and Schiele Theme
2018 is the centenary of Austrian artist Egon Schiele (1890 – 1918) and his mentor Gustav Klimt (1862 – 1918). The two artists shared much in common, and their work was intertwined while also being distinct. These short courses combine to present an on overview of how the two artists worked, thought and produced art in the early years of the twentieth century.
5 weeks of Klimt, 5 weeks of Schiele – Do either or both courses (discounts for both)

Weeks 1 – 5 // Life Drawing – Klimt Theme
Working from the figure was central to the artistic practice of Gustav Klimt, who practised life drawing daily. He sought to explore the emotional and symbolic world through line and the human form, and it was through the daily practice of drawing from the nude that he formulated and distilled his ideas. This course will use exercises in life drawing to examine Klimt’s working methods. As well as short pose life drawing, there will also be semi-nude (halb akt) and fully costumed drawing, with models using props and costumes to inspire students to incorporate Klimt’s methods into their own ways of working.

Dates: Starts Thursday, September 27th
Times: 18:30 – 21:00
Fee: €190. Do both courses (Klimt and Schiele) for the reduced rate of €320
Location: BLOCK T Studios, Dublin 8
