Landscape Drawing in Charcoal with David West at Schoolhouse for Art, Enniskerry

Successful drawing lies at the meeting point of sound technical knowledge and imaginative mark-making. Over the course of this 2-day workshop we will work on these two principles through the medium of charcoal – a perfect medium for capturing atmospheric effects. The first day will be spent briefly looking at the essentials of drawing in relation to aspects of landscape drawing. (shape, geometry, aerial and linear perspective and tonal values) and the afternoon exploring mark-making. On the second day participants will work on individual projects from their own photographs or field studies.
