Wednesday 29 November, 10am to 3pm
This year sees three new additions to the Irish Contemporary Ceramics Collection (ICCC). Work by Marcus O’Mahony, Christy Keeney and Anne Butler will join this all-island collection, a joint project between Limerick School of Art and Design (LIT) and the Hunt Museum, Limerick.
The artists were selected by a panel of representatives from the Hunt Museum, the Ceramics programme Limerick School of Art and Design (LIT), Design and Crafts Council of Ireland and Ceramics Ireland. Now in its third year, it is envisioned that this joint project between Limerick School of Art and Design (LIT) and the Hunt Museum, Limerick, where the collection is housed, will grow annually to reflect the richness, diversity and creativity of contemporary Irish ceramic practice.
All three artists, alongside Deirdre McLoughlin who contributed to the collection in 2015, its inaugural year, will participate in the 2017 acquisitions day and lecture series.
Works from the collection are on permanent display in the Hunt Museum and include pieces by Sara Flynn, Jack Doherty, Deirdre McLoughlin, Frances Lambe, Henry Pim and Claire Curneen, Ingrid Murphy, Katharine West and Cormac Boydell.
In addition, this year, with the support of the Design and Craft Council of Ireland and Applied Arts Ireland, Christy Keeney and Anne Butler will demonstrate their making techniques on Tuesday 28 November at Limerick School of Art and Design Ceramics programme from 10am – 4.30pm.
Both events are free, but booking is required. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
