Performance art has a dynamic history in Ireland and it continues to grow strongly today. Performance art is a raw and very accessible way to engage in creativity and art. If you are an active performance artist, an artist looking to go beyond your artistic boundaries or a person plainly interested in creativity these series of workshops will provide a safe space to learn and develop skills to create artworks engaging in performance art. I will work with your individual level and strength so that experienced and non-experienced people may apply.
Over the 6 workshops, we will explore the different approaches to performance art through a variety of exercises. An emphasis will be placed on idea generation and development of your own creative process to execute performance art works. Every week we will build on your performative confidence by performing the products of the exercises to each other. In addition, writing and discussion will aid to respondency and evaluation of art works. The main aim for these workshops is for each individual to produce a finished performance art work that they are confident with. After the course, which is an option, the finished work will be showcased to a public audience in Block – T or in a gallery space that is yet to be confirmed.
