In Conversation | Professor Mary Corcoran and Amanda Jane Graham at The Dock, Co. Leitrim

Professor Mary Corcoran and visual artist Amanda Jane Graham will discuss the themes of art and society, how they interact and connect, and the art centre as a point of convergence.

Mary P. Corcoran is Professor of Sociology at Maynooth University, and a graduate of the University of Dublin, Trinity College and Columbia University, New York. Corcoran has developed collaborative practices with visual artists and arts practitioners. In 2018, she collaborated with Muireann Ni Chonaill and Mary Burke on the Townscape visual art project and contributed to the Central Field project curated by artists Yvonne McGuinness and Rhona Byrne www.centralfield.com
Mary Corcoran has also been an invited contributor to events organised by the Dun Laoghaire Mountains to the Sea festival, Kildare Reader’s Festival, IMMA, RIA, and Leviathan debates amongst others.

Amanda Jane Graham is an artist and researcher concerned with social issues. Graham current exhibition ‘Stage Left’ is on show in The Dock until January 5th, 2019. Graham is currently a doctoral candidate at Maynooth University. Recent solo exhibitions include ‘The Domestic Abuse Panorama’ at Transart Cavan in 2018. A Tribute To The Irish Community Butte Montana 1916-1919’ at RHA Ashford Gallery in 2017. She was a recipient of ‘The Bullock Lane Residency Award’ in 2017 and, Arts and Health Award 2016 from Uillinn:West Cork Arts Centre and Cavan Arts Office. Graham is currently the visual arts correspondent for The Arts Hour on Shannonside and Northern Sound FM and, in 2016 a documentary which she wrote, performed and co-produced was aired on both stations.
