Grant Awarded to Amharclann Chois Fharraige, Indreabhán, Co. Galway
A one-off grant of €20,000 has been granted to Amharclann Chois Fharraige, Co. Galway by Minister of State Seán Kyne. Seán Kyne T.D., Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for Irish, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, has announced that he has awarded a grant of €20,000 to Amharclann Chois Fharraige, Indreabhán, Co. Galway to properly cater for drama and the arts in the community.
Amharclann Chois Fharraige was founded in 2003 and there has always been dramatical, artistic and cultural events going on there. There is always a large attendance at occasions in the theatre and one of the aims of the theatre is to cater to the diaspora via the broadcasting of plays on the internet.
‘‘I am delighted to award this grant to Amharclann Chois Fharraige,’’ said Minister of State Kyne. ‘‘This theatre is an excellent resource, not only for those who attend the plays and events going on there but for Irish language actors, writers, artists, musicians, designers and directors. The importance of Amharclann Chois Fharraige is certainly evident in promoting the language in an entertaining and exciting way.’’
This grant has been approved in accordance with the provisions in the Community and Language Support Programme under act 2.14 of the Government’s Action Plan 2018-2022 for Irish, which was launched in June 2018.
