The deadline for the scheme: Thursday 31 January, 5.30 2019.
The window for making an application opens on Tuesday, 18 December 2018.
The Bursary Award is available in the following artforms:
- Architecture
- Arts Participation
- Circus
- Dance
- Film
- Literature (English Language)
- Music
- Opera
- Street Art & Spectacle
- Theatre
- Visual Arts
Please note: The Visual Arts Bursary Award will include two strands:
Strand 1 (Visual Artists)
Strand 2 (Curators)
The Arts Council provides Bursary Awards in order to assist individual artists in the development of their art practice. The award emphasises the value and benefit to an artistβs development that is derived from a focused period of engagement with their practice.
A second round of the Bursary Award will be offered in May 2019 for Literature (English and Irish language), Traditional Arts, Visual Arts, YPCE.

Please note
You may apply for only one Bursary Award in any one calendar year.
You may not apply to Round 1 of the Bursary Award in 2019 (closing date 31 January 2019) if you were awarded a Bursary Award in the second round of 2018 (closing date 12 July 2018).
You may not apply for a Bursary Award in 2019 if you were awarded a Next Generation Artists Award in 2018.
Applications will only be accepted through the Arts Councilβs online services website. Applicants who have not previously used this system must register in advance of making an application. It is recommended that applicants allow five working days for registration prior to making an application.
