“There’s far too much of everything now, so the art of the future may have to be an overwriting”.
Taking the above quote as a starting point to think about the quantity of man-made objects that are currently a major cause of pollution for the planet. This class addresses the production of art in the world and how we can continue to create art with minimal environmental impact.
The basis of this workshop will be making drawings that are overwriting/utilising something already in existence. Participants will create artworks that focus on the quality of form, line, shape and space through the emphasis on perception, and the integration of the old with the new.
Participants should bring objects to the workshop which have a history of their own, and another to inspire imagery. These objects should be ones which could be worked on with drawing materials such as pencils, charcoal, felt-tip makers, watercolour markers, pastel and chalk and might include books, magazines, pictures, wood, some plastics etc.
