Participants will animate frame by frame onto 16mm film and film leader by scratching into it with a pin and/ or by drawing onto it with permanent markers. The lengths of film will then be spliced together and played through a projector. Relevant short films will also be screened. Ideal for anyone curious about abstract animation and experimental film.
The course is aimed at anyone who has an interest in animation. No previous experience is necessary, though it might be of particular interest to filmmakers and visual artists.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore the painterly possibilities of celluloid film. They will also gain a practical knowledge of the animation process through working frame by frame through the film.
