Many artists struggle to find their way in the new landscape of art-making when they leave the academic environment. If you ask a practicing artist, they talk about this as a particularly difficult time to keep their work going, in fact to keep faith with making art as an occupation at all.
Additionally, many artists express a desire for some sort of continued experience, course or framework to keep them “on the road” or continuing to find their particular personal vein, or thread of work. When you have had the experience of tapping into something personal and getting into the flow of work, it can be painful and even depressing to try to find it again on your own. It can be a lonely experience.
During this session participants will discuss their experiences, explore some strategies and attempt to tap into that place from which the creative forces emerge, and see what might help us explore, focus our energies and find our own particular “voice”.
Participants are encouraged to bring recent works and ideas on the day that they might like feedback on, and to help provide some structure and motivation and motivation for their work going forward.
