Paul Flynn, winner of the Bronze Art Sculpture Prize for Harmonium at Sculpture in Context at the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland, will be teaching Clay sculpture classes in the Schoolhouse for Art this October and November.
The ‘Clay Head Sculpting (Stage 1)’ course is suitable for beginners and intermediate students.
In this popular 4 week course you will learn how to make a support (armature) for your sculpture and then make a head in clay. You will be shown how to correctly measure the head and place every feature so that you get a good likeness.
As well as thoroughly enjoying this tactile experience you will bring home your creation at the end of the course. Tuition is taught step by step under the guidance of sculptor/artist Paul Flynn. This course is a wonderful foundation class for anyone thinking of sculpting in clay. You will get an understanding of how easy clay is to use and how satisfying it is to make your own sculpture. As for the more advanced student, this course will help you develop your technique and hone your sculpting skills – and give you an excuse to get your hands back in clay.
