This workshop will begin by us making the most of our location in the heart of the Mournes and taking inspiration from the beautiful landscape that surrounds us. Participants will begin the day making sketches or photographing what they might like to draw onto clay.
Each participant will then have the opportunity to make their own porcelain slabs to use as our ‘canvases’ for our ceramic landscapes. Amy will take along a selection of the tools and coloured porcelain slips and underglazes which she uses in her own work and demo a range of techniques for mark making, drawing and painting with the slips and tools. Participants can then create their own piece of ceramic wall art using their drawings from earlier and the techniques they have been shown. Amy will be on hand to offer advice and assistance throughout the day and particpants will have lots of opportunity to experiment. At the end of the workshop Amy will then take the landscapes and fire and glaze them for participants and return their pieces framed and ready to hang at home to be admired by all.
