This course is suitable for those who want to return to drawing and painting after a gap, or for those who have had limited experience and now want to approach basic skills in a way that will assist their transition into a better experience of making artworks. The course includes demonstrations and workshops, where students will participate in set exercises and practical activities. Subjects covered include: drawing from observation, life drawing, basic colour theory and paint mixing, painting from life, understanding basic composition; and other technical aspects of painting and drawing.
About your tutor:
Tadhg McGrath has an honours degree in painting from Central St.Martin’s in London, and a Masters in Fine Art from NCAD in Dublin. He recently had a one person exhibition in the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar, and has shown in galleries across Britain and Ireland. He teaches painting at NCAD, Block T, and The Lab.
