Kiera O’Toole is a Sligo-based artist working primarily in the field of drawing, with a research interest in phenomenology and contemporary drawing. Her practice examines the perceptual experience of drawing and considers the felt and lived experiences of place and non-place.
As a participating artist in Artist Select, O’Toole has been invited by The Model to select works from The Niland Collection, which resonate with her own artistic interests.
O’Toole considers the work of renowned Dutch drawing artist Arno Kramer. As O’Toole’s practice is realized through drawing, digital media, photography and sound, it seems only natural that the artist would be drawn to the work of Arno Kramer. Arno often combines organic with inorganic forms, like screens, grids and found mathematical images. His work is stratified and the image develops step by step and occasionally abstract forms appear from the edges of the work. Artist Select; Keira O’Toole features three works by both O’Toole and Arno Kramer.
